Day 10, March 24th

Posted by on March 24, 2013

Started off the day at Low Gap. Was a very rainy night. Thunderstorms and hard down pours. Went to bed at 7:30pm after hanging out around a fire pit with no fire with some good people.

Woke up a lot because of thunder. I noticed Gus was shivering and had to cover him up with all my extra clothes. He was a little wet from some rain that got into the tent.

Met another hiker named Nick and we hiked the rest of the day together. Made it to Unicoi Gap around 1:30pm and hitched a ride to Helen from a guy that was doing some trail magic. I had a Mr. Pibb. It was delicious.

Me and Nick got a hotel room and dried out all of our gear. We went to a pizza place to eat and had a couple beers. Good times. This town is kind of neat. It’s modeled after an old German town. Feels like we are in Europe.

I will update you guys soon. Almost finished my first state. About 2.5 more days until we cross into North Carolina!
