Had an easy day today. Only 8.0 miles because it sets me up to get into Gatlinburg, TN. Reached the highest point on the AT on Clingman’s Dome (6655 ft). Also went over 200 cumulative miles.
Had some really cool views today on the ridges going up to Clingman’s Dome. Took a bunch of pictures. I will have to add a gallery page to the blog to upload all my pics. If I ever have wifi again I will look into it.
It was really windy and cloudy on the way up and I was hoping it would clear so I could get some nice views from the tower. It did partly and I was able to see the mountains I had hiked across for the last week. Pretty impressive.
We are at the Mount Collins Shelter for the night. It is very wet around here. Snow and ice on the trail to get here made for an interesting couple hours. Made me second guess not bringing my Microspikes.
Heading to Garlinburg, TN tomorrow morning to pick up my new tent body. Also have to pick up some food for the next 5-6 days into Hot Springs, NC. We are all taking a zero day there. Can’t wait!
