Got up really early this morning because I was sick of my face being cold and wanted to get moving. I was out and on the trail by about 8:30am. It was very cold packing up camp and eating breakfast. I just wanted to get the heck out of there.
Me and Nick were headed into Hiawassee, GA to get a few more supplies so we can make it to Franklin, NC in about 3 days. We made it to Dicks Creek Gap at noon and got a hitch into town by a very nice older couple. We shopped at Ingles grocery store. We then tried hitching out of town but was spotted by a shuttle service and opted to do that for $10 a piece. We made it back to the trail by 1:30pm and were on our way.
We had a pretty big climb out of the gap and with my heavier pack it kicked my butt. I just went slower and pushed through the burning in my legs.
I caught up to Nick on the decent from the top of Buzzard Knob with about .5 mile to go before we reached Plumorchard Gap shelter. Nick ate dinner and packed up and headed 4.4 miles to the GA/NC Border. I opted to stay at Plumorchard Gap because I was tired and the terrain was all up and I didn’t feel like doing anymore miles today. I will meet up with him on Saturday in Franklin, NC at a Hiker Bash going on there.
Pretty good day. Cold this morning but it is about 35-40 right now and I’m pretty comfortable in my tent. Gus is taking a nap and I am going to read. Talk to y’all again soon.
